Getting Others to Understand Parental Alienation: Audio
This audio-course is my most recent summary of
the major issues involving parental alienation.
It is designed as an educational resource for
parents going through the experience, but also
for those supporting and advocating for them.
This course has a heavy emphasis on what we have
learned from years of research with Attachment
Theory, and how this reveals how bizarre
alienated children's behaviors truly are. By
examining what we know about abused and neglected
children and how they interact with their abusive
parent, we can then compare these behaviors to
those of alienated children. Such comparison is
most revealing of the differences. For example,
alienated children may claim to be fearful of a
targeted parent, however their behavior is more
suggestive of their being improperly empowered
and angry rather than frightened. I have seen
such comparisons create a "light bulb on" moment
in those who are trying to understand alienation,
but remain skeptical. Such a recording should be
helpful to attorneys attempting to represent
targeted parents, as well as to their loved ones.

The Canadian Symposium: Treatment for Alienated Children: Audio/ppt
This is an audio recorded Power Point type
presentation made at the Canadian Symposium for
Parental Alienation Syndrome in Toronto in March of
2009. While the visual presentation is identical to
the one presented at that important event, this
recorded version is a more expansive version than
the original.
This course compliments the other Treatment course which is also offered, and introduces new material on the subject.
The Problem:
Human beings are inclined to believe things that are not true. We are wired that way: literally. Language contributes further, and our memories scramble things further still. There is ample evidence of our vulnerability to being unduly influenced by others throughout history and prehistory, which further confirms our difficulty with objectivity. We are rife with blind spots, which - for better or worse - appears to be part of the design. This vulnerability however explains how easily a child can be alienated from a parent. That is, this all so human vulnerability to bias is exploited by the person who is supposed to love and protect the child. The result: an alienated child.
The Solution:
There have been various attempts at treating children who have been alienated from a loving parent, and many do not work, and a few do. The purpose of this presentation is to break the code of what works and why. To answer this question, we explore the story of how Parental Alienation has been understood by those who have addressed it. Their stories are told as are their views of the others with whom they disagreed. This "inside story" and the politics of their disagreements are explored and revealed as being very significant for treatment.
Finally, a model or prescription for what should help children become un-alienated is offered as a practical tool.

Treatment for Alienated Children:
What Works, What Doesn’t and Why
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Your children refuse to see you. They hang up on you when you call them on the phone. If your children do talk to you, their profanity-laced tirades shock and destroy you. If you want nothing more than a normal relationships with your children, you don’t want any part of these scenarios. Yet sadly, many loving parents find themselves in these situations. If you’re one of these parents, this course could be of significant help to you and your attorney.
Our three-session course begins with a review of how alienation takes hold of its victims at the psychological level. This knowledge establishes a foundation to understand how alienation can be reversed, and what you have to do to reverse it. We examine the effects of alienation in cognitive, emotional and relational terms. We also examine the phenomenon of bias, and how people, including alienated children, are vulnerable to it.
Our course also examines and compares current treatment modes; and explores how these modes relate to bias, blame, “victimhood” and relational manipulation. All these concepts are compared and contrasted to the development of healthy, independent critical thought.
Finally, all this information is combined to identify characteristics that are most associated with successful alienation treatment plans. These plans include a willingness to hold the other parent “blameless,” and effective responses to your alienated children’s provocations. The unique nature of parental alienation and the adversarial environment in which it thrives makes this course a must for any parent working desperately to restore his or her previously healthy relationships with his or her children.

Family Court - What Works, What Doesn't and Why : Audio : 3hrs
Family Court - What Works, What Doesn't and Why
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The course addresses the challenges of Family Court. Experienced Family Court litigants and attorneys will readily agree that Family Court is unpredictable and inconsistent when it comes to outcomes. In cases involving parental alienation, the subjective nature of Family Court is amplified. This three-part course examines why judges have such difficult times making fair and accurate rulings in parental alienation cases, and what you can do to help insure a positive outcome.
The course begins with a brief overview of the Family Court experience – not from a legal perspective, but as an anthropologist might describe the culture and systems of an exotic society. You’ll learn how Family Court works – as opposed to how you believe it should work. You’ll discover the unpredictability isn’t the exception to the rule, the unpredictability is an inherent part of the Family Court process. We’ll even show you how a consistent set of facts can result in very different outcomes!
The course also explores the factors that do predict outcome more consistently. These principals often have nothing to do with the law or the facts of the case. However, the nature of bias, confusion, cognitive dissonance and premature closure are critical elements of the process.
Finally, these elements are pulled together and turned into tools and strategies to improve your ability to effectively communicate your position in Court. Both hypothetical and real examples will demonstrate the application, reliability and limits of our approach.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Where does 2+2 sometime equal 5? Where isn’t 32(or 0) degrees always the freezing point? And where does action sometimes result in opposite and unequal reactions?
If you said, “Family Court” give yourself a high five. The normal laws of math, nature and physics don’t always apply in Family Court. How else can you explain:
* Parents falsely portrayed as abusive and neglectful without evidence to support the claims.
* Judges who make rulings based on inaccurate perceptions, not facts.
* Children and parents separated from each other because it is impossible to prove something “didn’t” happen.
* Parents ordered into Anger Management classes not for anger problems, but as punishment for expressing frustration over an antiquated and ineffective system.
* Supervised visitation for parents and children who never needed protection before they came to court.
Only in Family Court does an absence of evidence equal evidence of absence. That’s why every potential litigant and his or her attorney need this course.
